July 2021 Create Mindful Moments

Are you okay with taking a break from last months’ Time To Hug Again energy? July is coaxing you to pause, reflect, and create mindful moments during your busy day. July’s vibrational energy, being the 7th month of the year, wants you to start exploring your life from your inner self. July’s vibrational energy says it’s time to learn more about the spiritual aspect of who you are and what you are drawn to do in your personal and professional life.

So, this month I suggest you start your day by taking a few mindful moments to explore what your heart or inner self really would like you to get more engaged with doing. This may not be an easy assignment for you to do at first. Why do I believe this this going to be a challenge? Well, most often your active mind is going to be telling you to get going with your current commitments and obligations. This must be done before you take any time to think about creating time for yourself and your desires.

You might also ask what is a mindful moment? The dictionary says the word mindful is an adverb. It says, when you are being mindful you become consciously aware of being alive. The dictionary says the word moment is described as a short bit of time like a second or two or perhaps a minute or two. When you create mindful moments, you create a space in your busy day to connect to your inner self or your purposeful self. When you do this practice, you and your spiritual- self become more aware of each other and start to form a relationship to be together more often.

Here are a few ideas you can try to create your own mindful moment experiences.

  • When you wake up in the morning before you get out of bed, take a moment to become aware of your surroundings. Next give yourself a few minutes to set your intention for your day. Be clear about what you would like to create for yourself.
  • When you take time to eat your meals, pause for a moment to connect to what you are about to eat. Notice the colors, the smell, and the amount. Next place your hands above your meal and give thanks for the food you about to eat. Finally, slow down your food intake to savor each bite.
  • At the end of your busy day find a quiet place to sit and relax. Take time to recall and explore the experiences you had doing what you did today. Next take 10 to 20 minutes to enjoy a mindful meditation to reconnect to your inner self. Finally have a personal journal and write down a least 3 things you are grateful for today.

This practice may take some time for you to accept the value of taking time to do these exercises. It may be easier for you if you have a mindful moment buddy to keep each other accountable until this becomes a new way of living for you. I know Lori and I have been doing similar practices for 20 plus years. We start our morning with magical beans that turn into fresh brewed organic coffee and our favorite deck of spiritual guidance cards to set our intentions for the day.

July’s vibration 7-energy will help you neutralize the resistance you may have to begin this practice. If you look at this practice as something you GET to do instead of something you HAVE to do, your brain will look forward to new experiences. Neuroscience tells us it takes 21 days to create a new practice so be patient with yourself if you don’t find the benefits of creating mindful moments right away.
